Indonesia takes more cruise calls every season, and shore excursions are a different business from a land programme. The ship sets the clock, the manifest is fixed weeks out, and the only outcome that matters is that every guest is back on board before the gangway lifts. An excursion that runs long is not a good tour — it is an incident.
Who you are actually selling to
Two buyers exist and they behave differently. Cruise lines contract a season ahead, audit your vehicles and insurance, and want capacity guarantees. Travel agents booking private excursions for their own cruising clients want the opposite: small, flexible, and better than what the ship sells. We operate both, but the paperwork and the lead times are not the same, so tell us which you are at the first enquiry.
The ports that matter
Benoa, Bali
The busiest call and the easiest to operate. Alongside berthing for most ships, an hour to Ubud in normal traffic and considerably more in peak season. The mistake agents make is selling Ubud and Uluwatu on the same short call — the island's traffic does not allow it.
Komodo and Labuan Bajo
An anchorage, not a berth, so everything moves by tender and the sea state decides. Park permits are capped and must be pre-issued; ranger escorts are mandatory on the dragon walks. Build a wet-weather alternative into the contract, because Komodo is occasionally closed at short notice.
Semarang and Probolinggo, Java
Semarang is the gateway to Borobudur — a three-hour transfer each way that only works on a long call, and never with a tender operation on top. Probolinggo serves Mount Bromo, which means a pre-dawn jeep convoy and a genuinely tight return window.
Tender operations and the all-aboard rule
At an anchorage the clock starts when the first tender lands, not when the ship arrives. We build every itinerary backwards from all-aboard with a contingency block, run a chase vehicle on the longer routes, and keep a coordinator at the tender pier with the manifest. Guests who miss the ship become the operator's problem and the operator's cost, which is why our timings look conservative on paper.
What we need from you
Call date and hours alongside, berth or anchorage, expected uptake, language split and mobility needs. With that we quote net per guest with vehicle and guide ratios stated, and we tell you honestly which excursions do not fit the call length rather than selling them and hoping.
