International artist booking and entertainment in Indonesia.
Singers, DJs, bands, celebrities and cultural performers — sourced internationally, contracted properly and delivered on the ground in Bali, Jakarta and across the archipelago.
Booking the artist is the easy part.
Explera DMC Indonesia sources international and local entertainment for events across Indonesia, and — more importantly — operates everything around the performance: contracting, work permits, freight, technical riders, backline, hospitality, rehearsals and the event night itself. An artist confirmation without that operational spine is a deposit at risk.
We work from either direction. If you already know who you want, send us the name and we will check availability, negotiate, contract and run the destination side. If you know only the shape of the evening — a headline moment for 400 incentive delegates in Nusa Dua, a cultural opening before a gala in Jakarta, a beach party to close a programme in Seminyak — we will propose options against your budget and your audience.
Why this sits with your DMC rather than a separate booker
An agency booking an artist directly still has to solve Indonesia: the KITAS or performance permit, the customs entry for instruments and control surfaces, the truck that gets a backline from Denpasar to a clifftop in Uluwatu, the generator that keeps a beachfront stage alive when the venue's supply cannot, and the hotel that will accept a 3am load-out. Those are ground-handling problems, and they are what a destination management company already does every day. Splitting the artist from the operation is how an event ends up with a confirmed headliner and no legal way to put them on stage.
What we can source.
Availability, fee and clearance always govern, but the sourcing net is not restricted to one country or one category.
Music
International and regional singers, live bands, solo artists, jazz ensembles, acoustic sets, classical musicians and electronic acts. Hybrid formats travel well in Indonesia — DJ with live vocalist, saxophone or percussion works on a beach or a rooftop where a full band will not fit.
DJs
International touring DJs, celebrity names and strong regional residents. Bali has a genuine club and beach-club circuit, which means credible local support acts and, often, an artist already routed through the region on dates you can use.
Celebrity & VIP
Appearances, private performances, brand-ambassador engagements, meet-and-greets, red carpet and special guests. These carry the heaviest contractual and security requirements and the longest lead times.
Performance & stage
Dance companies, specialty and circus acts, hosts, presenters, comedians and MCs. For bilingual audiences we staff hosts who can carry a room in two languages rather than translating line by line.
Indonesian cultural
Balinese Kecak, Legong and gamelan, Javanese court dance, Sumatran Saman, Toraja ceremony-derived performance. Contracted through the communities that hold the form, not staged imitations of it.
Creators
Influencers and content creators for launches and activations, where deliverables, usage rights and disclosure are agreed in writing before travel rather than after.
The part that actually decides whether it works.
Every line below is a place programmes fail. We run all of them on one file, with one coordinator and one reconciliation.
Clearance and permits
Foreign performers working in Indonesia need the correct immigration status and, depending on venue and format, event and entertainment permits. This is the single most common reason an international booking collapses late, and it is not a formality that can be started three weeks out. We tell you the real lead time for the artist's nationality and the province you are performing in before you sign anything.
Freight, backline and customs
Instruments, control surfaces and stage equipment enter on carnet or temporary import and must be reconciled against a packing list agreed with your forwarder well before shipping. Where the rider allows, sourcing backline locally in Bali or Jakarta is faster and cheaper than flying it in — we will tell you which items are genuinely available to specification here and which have to travel.
Technical rider against the actual venue
A rider written for a European arena does not survive contact with a clifftop in Uluwatu, a resort lawn in Nusa Dua or a phinisi deck. We read the rider against the real venue — power, load-in access, rigging points, noise curfew, humidity, salt air — and come back with what can be met, what needs substitution and what needs the artist's approval before contracting.
Hospitality rider
Dressing rooms, catering, security, ground transport, accompanying party and the specific requirements that go with touring talent. Getting this wrong does not usually cancel a show; it damages the relationship and the next booking.
Travel and accommodation
International flights, domestic connections onto Bali or the outer islands, and accommodation graded to the contract rather than to the group block. Artist and crew movements are held separately from delegate transport so a late soundcheck cannot strand a coach.
Rehearsal, soundcheck and show
A rehearsal schedule that respects both the venue's other business and the artist's contracted rest, a soundcheck slot that is actually protected, and a coordinator on site through load-in, performance and load-out.
Where the entertainment sits in the programme.
Incentives and MICE
On an incentive, entertainment is usually the moment participants describe when they get home. It is worth building the programme backwards from it. Pairs naturally with our MICE and incentive operation.
Gala dinners and awards
Cultural opening, headline set, house band through dinner, DJ to close — sequenced so the room is never waiting and the awards segment does not fight the music.
Destination weddings
Ceremony musicians, reception band and an after-party act, coordinated with the wedding team so the entertainment plan and the run sheet are the same document. See destination weddings.
Launches and activations
Product launches, brand activations, roadshows and press events, where the artist is part of a communications plan and usage rights matter as much as the performance.
Private celebrations
Milestone birthdays, anniversaries and private parties on villa estates or charter vessels, run with discretion and a tight crew.
Concerts and public events
Ticketed and promoter-side work, where permits, crowd management and security planning carry more weight than in a closed corporate room.
Programmes that cross borders.
Explera operates as a group across several Asian markets, which matters when a programme moves between countries. A tour that opens in Bali and continues elsewhere in the region can keep one commercial relationship and one reporting line while the entertainment changes completely at each stop — an Indonesian cultural opening here, something entirely different at the next destination.
The Indonesian leg is ours and is contracted on this entity. Other destinations are handled by the group companies listed in the footer, each on its own paperwork and its own local licences. We will say plainly which entity is carrying which leg rather than blurring it, because on a work-permit question the answer depends on exactly that.
For the group-wide picture, see expleradmc.com.
Production we run alongside the booking.
Where you need it, the same file covers stage and set construction, sound, lighting, LED and video, backline hire, power and distribution, rigging, crew, dressing and green rooms, security, and event-day supervision through to departure. Where you already have a production partner, we work to their drawings and handle the destination-side logistics, permits and venue interface instead.
Venue, catering, delegate transport and accommodation come from the same desk, so the production schedule and the guest programme are built against each other rather than reconciled afterwards.
How to brief us.
Six lines are enough to start: the destination and venue if you have one, the event date, guest numbers, the event format, the entertainment direction or the specific artist, and the budget band for the entertainment line. Budget is not a negotiating position here — international fees vary by an order of magnitude, and without a band we will waste your time proposing acts that were never going to fit.
We come back with options that are genuinely available on your date, each with a fee, the destination-side cost to deliver it, the permit lead time, and what the rider will demand of your venue. Send a brief through the trade desk or the RFQ builder.

International entertainment in Indonesia — asked by agents.
Can you book a specific international artist for an event in Indonesia?
Usually we can at least establish whether it is possible. We approach the artist's agent or management, check the date against their routing, and come back with a fee, a rider and the destination-side cost to deliver it. Availability, fee and clearance decide the outcome, not the enquiry — but you will get a clear yes, no, or a realistic alternative rather than an open-ended maybe.
How far in advance should an international artist be booked?
For a recognised international name, six to nine months is comfortable and three months is tight. The binding constraint is rarely the artist's calendar; it is the work permit and, for anything with substantial freight, the customs entry. Local and regional acts can be contracted much later. Tell us the date first and we will tell you honestly what tier is still reachable.
What permits does a foreign performer need in Indonesia?
A foreign artist performing in Indonesia needs the correct immigration status for paid work, and depending on the venue, format and province, event and entertainment permits as well. Requirements differ by nationality and by where you are performing. We confirm the specific route and the real lead time for your artist and venue before contracting, because starting this late is the most common way an otherwise finished booking falls over.
Do you handle the technical rider, or only the booking?
Both. We read the rider against the actual venue — power, load-in, rigging, curfew, humidity and salt air all bite in Indonesia — and come back with what can be met as written, what needs substitution, and what needs the artist's sign-off before you contract. Sourcing backline locally in Bali or Jakarta is often faster and cheaper than flying it in, and we will tell you which items are genuinely available here to specification.
Can you combine an international act with Indonesian cultural performance?
That combination is the most requested thing we do, and it is usually the strongest. A Kecak opening on a clifftop followed by an international headline set gives an incentive group both the destination and the reward moment. We contract cultural performance through the communities that hold the form rather than through imitations of it.
What does international entertainment cost in Indonesia?
The artist fee dominates and spans an enormous range, so a quotation is meaningless without a budget band. Around it sit costs that are more predictable: flights and accommodation for artist and crew, freight or local backline, production, permits, ground transport and staffing. We quote the destination-side line separately from the artist fee so you can see exactly what you are paying for and adjust one without disturbing the other.
Do you work with agencies, or only direct clients?
Both, and the trade is the larger side. Agencies and event companies use us as the destination-side partner so they do not have to maintain artist and supplier relationships in Indonesia. Rates to the trade are net, we do not approach your client, and the programme runs under your brand.
Can you deliver entertainment outside Indonesia?
Explera operates as a group across several Asian markets, so a programme that moves between countries can keep one commercial relationship. The Indonesian leg is contracted on this entity; other destinations run on the group companies listed in the footer, each with its own local licences. We will always tell you which entity carries which leg — on a permit question the answer depends on it.
